Jaflong is found in the border area of Sylhet, Bangladesh. On the opposite side is the Daiki region of India. Dawki river enters Bangladesh through this Jaflong from the hills of the Dawki region. Jaflong is especially situated in the basin of the river Piane. Jaflong-Tamabil-Lalkhan region of Sylhet district has mountainous upheaval. Sedimentary rocks are exposed during this upheaval, so geological surveys are conducted there several times by Bangladesh. Four sorts of hard rock are found in Bangladesh, including hard rock gravel found in Bholaganj-Jaflong. additionally, when there's heavy rain in the mountains of the Shillong Plateau on the Indian border during the monsoon season, the strong current of the Dawki River brings large boulders from those mountains. As a result, large quantities of stones are found within the river of Jaflong in the Sylhet area. and therefore the livelihood of a large part of the people of this area is built around the extraction of this stone and its processing.

According to historians, for thousands of years, Jaflong was a secluded forest under the Khasia Jainta-Kings. Although the Khasia-Jainta kingdom came to an end with the abolition of the zamindari system in 1954 AD, large areas of Jaflong remained in ruins for several years. Later, traders started coming to Jaflong by sea from different areas in search of stones, and because the stone business expanded, new settlements were built.

As ordinary Bengalis sleep in this area, so do the tribes. Jaflong has 5 Khasiapunjis including Balla, Sangrampunji, Nakshyapunji, Lamapunji, and Pratappur. consistent with the census, 1,953 Khasia tribes sleep in Jaflong.

Standing on the Bangladesh border at Jaflong, one can see the high mountain ranges inside the Indian border. The springs coming down from these mountains are one of the tourist attractions. A Baisakhi fair is organized in Jaflong around the Bengali New Year on the first Baisakh. the full area becomes full of festivities around this fair. the sweetness of Jaflong emerges in monsoons and winters. Rain-soaked trees and flowing rivers are a sight to behold during monsoons. Moreover, the view of the clouds at the highest of the mountain is also quite pleasant.

Palm trees (Licuala species) are found among the shorter species among the plant species of the Jaflong region. an outsized number of bats live around coconut and betel nut trees in Jaflong. Besides, bats have settled in Jaflong Bazar or Jaflong Zamindar's house. However, thanks to food shortages, human intervention, or uncontrolled deforestation, many bats are leaving Jaflong for the surviving forests of Jaintia and Goainghat, or neighboring India.
